20/20 Vision

As we settle into this new year, it has already been proclaimed as the year of vision. I have seen numerous vision board activities and various tips for vision casting. Since clarity of focus and vision didn’t just begin with the year 2020, I’d like to share a message that I originally posted in 2013 regarding the importance of vision. I’m glad to see that this scriptural text in Habakkak is finally being realized in circles that previously ignored this instructional Word regarding vision.

“Then the Lord answered me and said: “Write the vision, And make it plain on tablets, That he may run who reads it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; Because it will surely come…” Habakkuk 2: 2-3 KJV

When my children were young, we would begin each year sitting on the floor with magazines, scissors and glue creating our Vision Board for the New Year. (They called it their Dream Board). I remember one year quite vividly when my son, Evin, put a picture of a dog and a computer on his board. This was a time before laptops and tablets existed, when the households that had a computer only had one desktop for the entire family to share. So when he put a picture of a computer on his board, my husband and I looked at each other, smiled and said - what in the world makes that boy think he can get his own computer? Well, later that year, my employment status changed, I needed a better computer, so guess who got their own computer in their room? By the way, the dog that I vowed would never live in my house has now been living with us for nearly 18 years! When Evin put those pictures on his board, He believed them to be possible and he was able to visualize them as his reality. The Lord orchestrated some events, altered some circumstances, moved in the hearts of his parents and caused his vision to come to pass.

Writing out your vision is about writing out those things that you are truly believing God for in your life. It’s about keeping those things in front of you that you can’t see how they will be done but you just know that somehow they will.

Writing out your vision and regularly reading it, keeps you speaking it, believing it, running to it and continually moving closer toward it.

Daily, many of us are thinking upon things that God has placed in our spirit, those things that He has given us a glimpse of as possible in our life. We momentarily feel the excitement of the possibility, yet, we never take a step toward them and eventually they fade from view.

This week, your assignment is to write out your vision for the new year. It doesn’t matter how impossible it seems. Remember, we serve a God who specializes in impossibilities!

Just as the Lord moved in our household such that a 9 year old could have his dream of his own computer, He will move in your circumstances to bring to pass those things that He has placed in your spirit. I don’t believe that God will give you a desire or a vision that He does not plan to bring to pass in your life.

If it is His vision, scripture says that it will “surely come.” So it’s time for you to see it, to write it, to run with it and to wait on it with anticipation!

Remember, your vision is for an appointed time.

It’s quite possible that you are upon this appointed time.

Don’t miss it simply because you stopped “visualizing it”.

Write it, run with it and watch God bring it into view!
